Most pipe chamfering machine manufacturers quote you a machine. The part that decides whether it does your job is the cutter head and the inserts in it — and that depends on the edge your drawing specifies, not on the model number. We quote both together.

What These Machines Do That a Deburring Wheel Does Not
A wheel knocks the burr off and leaves an inconsistent edge. A cutter head machines a specified geometry: the cutter carries an inner corner knife, an outside corner knife and a flat knife, and all three engage in one stroke.
The result is a bore chamfer, an outside chamfer and a squared face to ±0.1 mm, repeating part after part. That is what a butt weld preparation, a press fit or an O-ring seal actually needs — and any one of the three knives can be used on its own if the part only calls for one.
Inserts are standard indexable carbide in triangular, flat or R-angle geometry. Triangular inserts carry three usable edges: rotate when one dulls. They are a commodity item, not a proprietary part you can only buy from us.

The double head machine finishes both ends in one clamping, which removes a loading and a turnaround — and because machining takes only a few seconds, handling is the cycle on these parts. It also fixes the finished length against one fixture instead of two operator positions.
Its working window is narrow, though: Ø8 to Ø30 mm and 100 to 245 mm long. Outside that, or where only one end is chamfered, the single head range is the machine — it reaches Ø230 mm and 10 mm wall with no upper length limit.
Two Figures People Get Wrong When Sizing
Wall thickness does not scale with diameter. The AC-120A and AC-180A differ by 60 mm of capacity but both stop at 4 mm wall. Only the AC-230A reaches 10 mm. If you run heavy wall on moderate diameter, size on the wall column.
Minimum part length is a real constraint. The AC-120A and above need 100 mm of tube to grip and machine. Short components belong on the AC-60A or AC-80A, which start at 40 mm and can go shorter with custom fixturing.
Materials
Carbon and stainless steel tube, copper, brass and aluminum tube, and solid round or hex bar within the diameter range. The cutter head is indifferent to the section as long as the clamping die grips it — tell us if you run hexagonal or square stock so the fixture is specified correctly.
Where Chamfering Sits in the Line
Immediately after the saw. Every cut leaves a burr on the inner and outer edge, and on thin wall it has to come off without distorting the tube.
Cut on a pipe cutting machine, chamfer here, then end form or bend. A chamfered end also enters an end forming die far more reliably than a burred one, which is a reason to put the chamfering machine in before you troubleshoot forming rejects.
