The MC-425CNC is a CNC pipe cutting machine with servo ball-screw feed, hydraulic clamping, and a Ø450 mm cold saw blade. It cuts round tube to Ø114 mm, square to 80 × 80 mm and rectangular to 60 × 120 mm, with a cutting range to Ø133 mm and wall thickness up to 5 mm.

Two things separate it from a pneumatic saw. Feed length is programmed rather than set by a stop plate, so changing cut length is a keystroke. And the clamping arrangement allows bundle cutting — several tubes held together and cut in one pass, which is where the real output gain comes from on thin-wall production.

The 5 mm wall limit applies across the range and is the figure that decides whether this machine suits your work. It covers welded and drawn tube, mechanical tubing, and light structural section. It does not cover Schedule 40 pipe at 4 inches and above, where wall thickness starts at 6.02 mm — for heavy-wall pipe you want a band saw or a plasma system, and we will say so rather than sell you the wrong machine.

What Makes It a CNC Machine

On a CNC pipe cutting machine, the feed axis is a controlled axis. An AC servo motor drives a ball screw, and the cut length is a number entered at the control rather than a stop plate an operator moves and locks. Any length from 0 to 1,000 mm is available without touching the machine.

Two consequences follow. Changeover between part numbers takes seconds instead of a fixture adjustment and a test piece, which is what makes short mixed batches economical. And length no longer depends on an operator setting a stop consistently, so variation between shifts disappears.

Clamping and the saw head remain hydraulic. At this section size, hydraulic clamping delivers the grip needed at a fraction of the cost of servo alternatives, and there is no accuracy penalty — the axis that determines part length is the one under servo control.

Feeding Accuracy Is Not Cutting Accuracy

The ±0.02 mm figure describes what the ball screw and servo deliver at the feed carriage. It is not the tolerance you will hold on the finished part, and any supplier quoting it as cutting accuracy is misrepresenting the machine.

Finished length is also affected by blade deflection under load, blade thickness and wear, how squarely the stock sits in the vice, and how the material behaves as the cut opens. Achievable cutting tolerance depends on those and on the section being cut.

Bundle Cutting

The top and bottom clamps hold a bundle of tubes against the bed while the side clamps close on the stack, so several pieces are cut in one pass of the blade. On small-diameter thin-wall tubes, this multiplies output without any increase in cycle time.

How many tubes fit depends on diameter and on the clamp openings — 150 mm across and 50 mm high. The limit on the practical bundle is usually blade load rather than space: too many pieces and the blade deflects, which shows up as out-of-square ends on the outer tubes.

Two Saw Speeds and an All-Gear Drive

The spindle runs at 45 or 90 rpm from a dual-speed 3.3/4 kW motor. High speed suits mild steel and thin wall; low speed is for stainless, thicker wall, and solid section, where feeding too fast work-hardens the material ahead of the tooth and destroys the blade.

Drive is through a four-shaft all-gear box rather than belts. Gears hold the blade speed under load instead of slipping as a belt does when the cut gets heavy, and there is nothing to re-tension as a consumable.

Compared With a Pneumatic Saw

Our pneumatic cutting machine handles Ø90 × 5 mm round tube, sets length with a manual stop plate, and costs considerably less. For one or two fixed lengths of small tube run all day, it is the better buy.

The MC-425CNC earns the difference in three situations: larger section up to Ø133, cut lengths that change through the shift, and bundle cutting for volume. If none of those apply to your work, buy the smaller machine.

Cut Quality and What Comes After

A cold saw cuts rather than abrades, so there is no discolouration band and no hardened heat-affected edge. The end comes off square with a clean surface, ready for welding or forming.

It does leave a burr on both inner and outer edges. If the tube is afterwards end-formed, welded or inserted into another section, plan a chamfering or deburring operation downstream — better settled before the machine arrives than after.

Installation and Support

At 1,300 kg including the material rack, the machine is positioned with a forklift and needs no foundation. Footprint is 2,950 × 800 mm plus clear run-out at the infeed for full-length stock.

Can it cut Schedule 40 pipe?

Up to 3 inch, where Schedule 40 wall is 5.49 mm — close to the limit, so confirm with us first. At 4 inches and above, Schedule 40 exceeds the 5 mm rating, and this is not the right machine.

What cut length can it produce?

0 to 1,000 mm per programmed feed cycle. Longer pieces are produced by repositioning the stock.

How many tubes can it cut at once?

It depends on tube diameter and on blade load rather than on clamp space alone. Send your tube size, and we will advise the bundle count we would actually run.

Is ±0.02 mm the cutting tolerance?

No. That is the feeding accuracy at the servo and ball screw. Finished cut length is also affected by blade deflection, blade wear, and how the stock sits in the vice. Tell us your tolerance, and we will confirm what is achievable.

Can it cut stainless steel?

Yes, at the 45 rpm setting with a blade specified for stainless. Expect higher blade consumption than carbon steel, and send us the grade so we can supply the right tooth geometry.
