3 Inch Pipe Bending Machine — DWCNC114
The DWCNC114 is a CNC automatic 3 inch pipe bending machine rated to Ø114 × 5 mm in carbon steel. Three-inch NPS pipe has an outside diameter of 88.9 mm, and at that diameter the machine covers both Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 with working margin.
Bending force depends on the section, not on wall thickness alone. Three-inch Schedule 80 has a thicker wall than the 5 mm headline figure, but at 88.9 mm diameter the section is smaller, and the load sits at roughly 80% of what the machine is rated to handle.
Capacity on 3 Inch Pipe
| 3″ schedule | Wall | Carbon steel |
| Sch 10 | 3.05 mm | Yes |
| Sch 40 / STD | 5.49 mm | Yes, comfortable margin |
| Sch 80 / XS | 7.62 mm | Yes |
| Sch 160 | 11.13 mm | Exceeds rating |
Maximum centreline bend radius is 400 mm, about 4.5D on 3 inch pipe, which covers the 3D and 4D radii used in most process and structural work. Minimum radius is [n] mm with mandrel tooling.
Stainless steel work-hardens during bending and needs more force than carbon steel at the same section. Schedule 40 stainless is within range at 3 inch; for Schedule 80 stainless, send us the grade and we will confirm before quoting.

Servo Feed and Rotation, Hydraulic Bend
Feed length and rotation plane are servo-driven from the stored program, holding ±0.1 mm and ±0.1°. These are the two motions where error accumulates across a multi-bend part, and automating them is what removes indexing scrap.
Feed speed reaches 700 mm/sec and rotation 150°/sec — both faster than the larger models in the series, because there is less mass to accelerate. On parts with many short segments between bends, that difference shows up directly in cycle time.
The control stores 500 part programs with up to 30 bends each. With a 3,900 mm feeding stroke and 5,600 mm effective mandrel length, the machine runs standard pipe lengths without pre-cutting.
Running Costs and Floor Space
Total connected load is 15.8 kW against 20 kW for the 4 inch model and 45.5 kW for the 6 inch. If 3 inch is your largest regular size, the smaller machine is meaningfully cheaper to run as well as to buy.
Footprint is 7,500 × 1,300 × 1,550 mm at 6 tonnes — the same bed as the 4 inch model, so if your requirement grows you can step up capacity later without replanning the shop floor. For 6 inch pipe, see the DWCNC168.
Applications
Process and plant piping. Pipe spools, compressed air, water and steam services in 1 inch to 3 inch pipe.
Boiler and heat exchanger. Coil work, header connections and manifold runs.
Structural and architectural. Handrails, balustrades, canopy and carport frames, scaffolding components.
Vehicle and machinery frames. Roll cages, agricultural equipment, trailer and platform structures.
Tooling, Installation and Support
One complete die set for your specified OD and radius — bend die, clamp die, pressure die, wiper die and mandrel, with rod and linkage. Die sets are size-specific, so tell us every OD and radius you plan to run and we will quote the full package rather than the machine alone.
The machine is 7.5 m long and weighs 6 tonnes, and needs clear run-out at both ends for full-length pipe. Installation and operator training are available on site or remotely; wear items ship from stock. Warranty is [n] months on the machine and [n] months on the control system.
Frequently Asked Questions
What diameter is 3 inch pipe?
88.9 mm outside diameter, regardless of schedule. Only the wall thickness changes, and it is the combination of diameter and wall that determines bending force.
The machine is rated Ø114 × 5 mm — how does it bend 3 inch Schedule 80 at 7.62 mm wall?
Capacity ratings state the largest diameter at a given wall. Bending force scales with the section of the pipe, and a smaller diameter allows a proportionally thicker wall. At 88.9 mm, Schedule 80 sits inside the machine’s rating.
Can it bend 4 inch pipe?
Thin wall only. 4 inch Schedule 40 at 6.02 mm exceeds this machine’s rating — that job needs the DWCNC130. We would rather tell you now than after the order.
What is the tightest radius achievable on 3 inch pipe?
[n] mm centreline with mandrel tooling and correct wiper die setup, on suitable wall thicknesses.
Can it bend square and rectangular tube?
Yes, with section-specific tooling. Send the profile dimensions, wall and required radius with your enquiry.
How long is delivery?
Standard lead time is [n] working days after deposit and tooling confirmation.
Send your pipe OD, schedule, material grade, required bend radius and annual volume, and we will quote within 24 hours.
